So, one day he's going to hate me for this picture, but it's so cute, it'll be worth it!!
Call me crazy, but Daniel has been interested in the potty for a couple of months now & a friend shared with me the "3-day method of potty-training". I was a bit skeptical, but was willing to try it. So, just after my hubbie took off, we rolled up the rugs, threw down some towels & put Daniel in big-boy underwear. He was SOOO excited. We had talked about the diapers going bye-bye for a week prior & even made up a song about it (don't ask me to sing it, please!). On the big day, he danced around the house in his underwear that he'd picked out. It only took peeing on himself 3 times before he was asking for his diapers back!! I just told him that he was a big boy, the diapers were put away because they were for babies, and he had to learn to go on the potty. He thought about that for a while & seemed to agree. By the end of the first day, he pretty much had it. By the end of the second day, no more accidents & no more starting to go in his underwear and finishing in the potty--it was ALL going in the potty. On day 3, we left the house & were accident free!! Here's the running score from day-to-day:
8/29 (Day 1)
Floor: 6
Potty: 9
Casualties: 11 pairs of underwear
8/30 (Day 2)
Floor: 2
Potty: 12 (plus 1 poopie, so I guess 13!)
Casualties: 2 pairs of underwear
8/31 (Day 3)
NO ACCIDENTS AT ALL!! We used only the appropriate one pair of underwear.
So, I'm sure we'll have some issues in the days to come & he's still wearing diapers for naps & nights, but it looks like I have a potty-trained little 25 month old!! Go, Daniel! I'm now a big proponent of the "3-Day Method" if anyone is interested.
