Rubber ducky, you're the one!
William and Daniel have decided they LOVE to take baths with their baby brother. Colin honestly doesn't seem to notice much who's in the tub with him--he's just as splashy when he's by himself as when he's with them. And, he has no qualms about DIVING over them to reach whatever toy catches his fancy. I think I'm as wet as he is after bathtime is over! I managed to catch one cute pic of the three of them, then something upset the C-man, so he's screaming his little head off in the second one. Of course, he was smiling again shortly--and splashing for all his little heart is worth!!

Tooth x 3!
So, our "little" guy will be 10 months old this Saturday. We just had his 9-month check-up and he weighs 21 lbs, 12 oz. and was 29.92 inches long. That puts him in the 65th percentile for weight and the 90th for height. He's now crawling ALL over the house and is pulling up & starting to cruise around the furniture. He is able to lower himself down to the ground already & seems to have completely skipped that awful phase where they can get up but not down, & so proceed to scream until you come to help them--thank goodness for small favors!!!!
He got his first tooth about 5 weeks ago & his second a few weeks later. Today, a third popped up. His first one was the lower front left while the second one was the lower right on THE SIDE of the front, so he's a bit gapped-tooth right now. The lower right front made an appearance, but his gums appear to have swollen up over it. You can feel it just under the gum, but it hasn't come all the way up yet. The one he got today is the upper right front. So, in essence, he has the tooth at the top where he has a gap at the bottom! It's pretty comical & definitely explains his crankiness over the past few days as well as his new tendancy to be awake in the middle of the night for WAYYYYY too long for Mommy & Daddy.
He now plays pat-a-cake & will clap his hands together & giggle incessantly until you sing the song; he plays peek-a-boo by putting a blanket over his head & pulling it down when you ask "Where's Colin?"; he claps very enthusiastically if you say, "Yay!!"; and his new trick appears to be trying to say "more", both verbally & with sign language. He's been saying, "Mawwww" when he runs out of food on his tray, but not consistently enough for us to be sure he means "more" and isn't just making noise (b/c he's SUCH a little chatterbox--imagine that!). When we ask if he wants more, he giggles & repeats "Mawwww". Just today, he started giggling & banging his hands together when I asked if he wanted more. I'm not sure if he was clapping in delight, or signing "more", but it's what he did every time he ran out of puffs this morning.
He also is saying "Ma-ma" and sometimes "Ma-meeee" and hasn't yet said "da-da", but will repeat "Da-deeee" if you say it first. He spent his entire recent photo session calling for Daddy.
He continues to adore his big brothers & William has taken to crawling around the house & getting Colin to follow him, to William's delight. Every morning when he comes out of his room, he crans his neck around to find them & has a full belly-laugh for them when he sees them. They read to him & he will actually sit still & listen to what they say, at least most of the time!
In short, he remains a very happy baby & loves exploring his environment, especially now that he can explore it from several different heights!!

Another snow day
We got another 4-5" of snow Valentine's night and throughout the next day. The boys were already off of school the 15th for President's Day, so we got up & out in it as soon as it was warm enough. They played with Maddie & Allie in the morning:
In the evening, we went over to Chris & Lea's house for dinner & the boys were able to do some sledding with Luke & Will. They had a BLAST!! Check out the videos under the pics for some quick clips. William is in the blue coat, Daniel in the red, Will in the yellow, and Luke in the orange.

William's Valentines
I don't know if I've mentioned this in a prior post, but my boys LOVE Special Agent Oso on Playhouse Disney. They watch him pretty much every morning (assuming they get ready for school in time!) and William, especially, has learned so much from watching. Oso is assigned a "special assignment" on each episode & has to help a kid who doesn't know how to perform a particular task. He got better at puzzles after watching "Octopuzzle", better at brushing his teeth after watching "Never Say No Brushing Again", and.....well, you get the picture. Oso is James Bond-ish and all of the episodes are spun off of Bond movies. It's pretty cute.
Anyway, to make a long story short, there was an episode of Oso recently where Oso helped a little girl make a Valentine card. Needless to say, William insisted on making his this year. To add to it, his teachers sent home a note asking that they sign each & every card as well as write their classmates' names on them. A LOT of work for one little 5-year-old who isn't very into either writing or crafts!! And, to top it off, the whole family got a nasty puking virus right in the middle of our card-creating days. (We had to spread the crafty love out over SEVERAL days in order to get them all done!) As a result, Mommy had to insist William do a few more than usual on the last couple of days. Thank goodness he was much more interested in writing his classmates' names than his own. He gets bored easily, poor little guy, and he gets to write W-I-L-L-I-A-M a lot & then, he had to write it FIFTEEN times on those little Valentine's cards! He was very excited to get to try some new letters. Here is a sample of one of "his" name efforts:

When they got to school the morning of the party, they had to take each Valentine & put it in the appropriate box. Working on name recognition, etc. I was very surprised that after William wrote all of his friends' names out, he was able to tell me about 12 out of the 15 just by glancing at them. Of the 3 he had to sound out, he got pretty easily. Reading & writing skills are coming along! Thanks, Three Springs!!
Here are a few snaps from their party. It was held on Friday, the day after Daniel's, which was very nice for me. No running back & forth & trying not to miss anything! I'm hoping they decide to do future events the same way.
They made bracelets by stringing marshmallows onto licorice strands--check out the concentration on that little face!
They had relay races with conversation hearts on spoons. They had to scoop some candy hearts onto their spoon & race across the room to dump it into a bowl before they could run back & pass the spoon off to the next person. They were all so intense!
And, they played Valentine's bingo:

Daniel's Valentine's Party
Daniel's class had their Valentine's Day party at school today. Daniel made his own Valentine's and wrote his name on them (with a little help from Mommy). He was very proud of his cards! They got huge heart-shaped cookies:
They played "put the heart sticker on the heart" (a Valentine's version of pin the tail on the donkey). Daniel getting blind-folded:

Who Dat????

So, unless you've spent the last several days under a rock, you know that the New Orleans Saints defeated the Indianapolis Colts to win the Superbowl! Of course, we had to have a party to watch the game. I ordered a fleur-de-lis shaped king cake from Randazzo's in New Orleans (it got a little smushed in transit!)

and made a big batch of chicken sauce picaunte and we all had a few cocktails while we watched that nail-biter of a game. A good time was had by all, although, there WAS some initial controversy while we debated whether Corey was allowed to stay & watch:

He took a dare from our friend who is a Colts' fan & showed up in an Indy jersey. We threatened to cut him off from the Cajun food!!

New Tricks
Colin was 9 months old on January 27! He's gotten to be such a big boy all of a sudden. He's now playing pat-a-cake and has pulled himself up to stand a few times. And, the thing he's most proud of--putting Puffs and Cheerios into his mouth all on his own. And, he seems to be starting to understand certain words. If you mention "milk" or "num-num" (what we call baby food around here!), he lights up & either tries to nurse or looks at his high chair. No surprise that the first words he seems to understand are food-related! Here are a few video clips & some pictures just for the sake of cuteness.

And, picking Puffs up and popping them in his mouth. He's better at picking them up with his right hand, but gets them into his mouth better with his left, so he tends to switch hands in the middle--cuteness!!
