DAy 4--back to Magic Kingdom

***New photos added courtesy of the grandparents!!***

A few quick snaps of the boys being silly in our hotel room (just gratuitous cuteness!) before we headed out for the day:

Cute pic of Colin & Nana (look closely at his onesie--it's a Halloween one. It says "I don't bite"--too cute!!)

The boys were dying to go back to "Castle Disneyworld", so we headed back to the Magic Kingdom on day 4. It was Dumbo AGAIN:

And, then the Jungle Cruise. The boys were fascinated with the "animals" we saw on the cruise. I was very glad we hadn't done the Animal Kingdom yet. The poor Jungle Cruise would have been anti-climactic!!

We did Pirates of the Caribbean next. I was in awe of the changes they've made to this ride. They've added Captain Jack Sparrow in keeping with the movie & he was SOOO lifelike! We didn't take any pictures, unfortunately!

In the afternoon, William wanted to ride Thunder Mountain & Splash Mountain again. We used our fast passes to get 3 for each (we had 6 park tickets between the four of us and my parents--I'd HIGHLY recommend taking grandparents if you can, for various reasons!), and by doing so saved ourselves a grand total of an hour & a half. Daniel and Colin went with my parents to Mickey's Toontown and had a blast. Daniel was revelling in all the grandparent attention! More pics to come when I get copies of my my parents' pics. Here are a couple of shots of William getting a daddy ride b/c his legs were tired:

We met back up later to do Tomorrowland & did the "other" Buzz Lightyear ride. It wasn't as cool as the one in DHS, but the kiddos loved it anyway. Daniel again had to take pictures with all the characters:

Today, we finally bought the boys Mickey Mouse ears. Of course, they had to be the McQueen kind!!

We finished Magic Kingdom with Mickey's Philharmagic. It is an awesome 3-D film. It's very short, but is very exciting, especially for little ones! Daniel even wore the 3-D glasses for this one.

This evening, Scott & I had a date night at Le Cellier in Canada at Epcot. My parents were kind enough to keep the kids for us (again, you NEED to bring grandparents if it's feasible!!), so we could have a dinner out on our family vacation. We forgot the camera, so no pics of our outing, but it was WONDERFUL! The International Food & Wine Festival was going on, so we were able to sample some food & wine while we waited for our table & the food at Le Cellier was outstanding. Not to be missed if you can get a reservation!!

WDW--Day 3

On day 3, we did Epcot. This was the only day we didn't take a break midday because we let the boys sleep until they woke up on their own. William made it to 8:30 & Daniel 9:30. Anyone who knows my kids knows that this is darn-near miraculous!!! Poor Daniel was still trying to shake his illness & just wasn't getting enough rest. I was sure he'd miss his nap, but he STILL took a 2 hour nap in the stroller!

William's favorite ride was Test Track. It's a ride put on by GMC that takes you through some of the tests they put their cars through during production. It's all done in true Disneyworld fashion. It ends with a 65 mph run around a circular track. William LOVED it. It quickly beat out "Danger, danger Splashey Mountain" as his favorite ride. He rode it 5 times this day!

Daniel's favorite ride was The Seas with Nemo & Friends. He HAD to take a picture with all of the characters after the ride:

We had lunch in the country of Norway at Akershus with the princesses! My boys were so excited to see them, although you'd never know it from Daniel's faces. He was priceless. And, William was just the picture of excitement! He just kept talking about how pretty they all were. We started with Belle when we walked in the door:

She was so busy meeting everyone that she didn't have time to make her way to our table, but her friends did! First, we met Aurora:

You can "hear" Daniel thinking, "If I don't look, she'll leave me ALONE!":

Then, we met Cinderella:

After lunch, we did Test Track one last time and also rode Soarin'. That ride is NOT to be missed, no matter what else you do!!! The wait was fairly long, but William was a trooper. My parents & I rode it with him while Scott took care of the two littler ones. Daniel took his huge nap at this point. Thank goodness for reclining strollers!!! Then, it was back to the hotel for naps & pool time. One of the boys' favorite things about the trip was the water slide in the hotel pool. A quick snap of William coming down:

We cancelled our dinner reservation for tonight. We were just too tired of running around! Next time we go, we're adding a couple of "cushion" days to just take it easy & sun by the pool. Or, if we stay at the Polynesian again, on the beach!!

WDW--Day 2

On day 2, we started at Disney Hollywood Studios. Honestly, there wasn't much my boys were too interested in, other than the Buzz Lightyear ride. DHS has a lot of shows & while they love to sit & watch TV at home, it just wasn't cutting it at Disneyworld. To quote William, "Mommy, I'm tired of this Disneyworld. I'm ready to go back to the CASTLE Disneyworld!" Here are a few snaps from the Buzz ride:

Look at these eyes! Poor little guy just wasn't feeling well:

Lovin' Mr. Potato head. He talked & made jokes about the people waiting in line!

Silly 3-D glasses for Buzz ride. All kinds of things fly at you as you try to shoot them. My boys LOVED it!!

And, then the other HUGE attraction at DHS--McQueen & Mater!!! Here are the guys nervously waiting their turn for pictures with them:

And, then the pictures. Daniel wouldn't take his hands off of McQueen! We practically had to drag him away.

We had dinner at Mama Melrose in DHS on night 2 as part of the "Fantasmic Package". I'd highly recommend that package if you can get it. Hollywood & Vine also takes part. You get a much fancier dinner than you would with just the dining plan and you also get a voucher allowing you to get right into the Fantasmic light show & sit in a special section. This basicallly means that you get a nicer dinner AND you don't have to wait in line for the show. You can walk in 10 min before showtime & get a seat. Here are a few random pics from dinner:

Here is William just after his "big scary elevator ride" (Yes, my 4 year old rode The Tower of Terror!!). His only comment, apparently, was, "Daddy, why does it keep going down & then back up?" My brave little man!

Might be a little scary for some younger kids, tho! Ours were too tired by that point to pay much attention!!

Disneyworld--Day 1

We were in Disneyworld in Florida from October 11-October 17. My parents drove out to meet us for our first Disney trip!! We stayed at the Polynesian and it was WONDERFUL! We were in one of their buildings right by the monorail station, so getting to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot was a cinch, and that station was also where we caught the buses to the Animal Kingdom and Disney Hollywood Studios. I'd be hard-pressed to do Disney and stay anywhere else as long as we have young children. It was just TOO easy to get back to our hotel for rests & in the evenings when the kids were just done from all the activity & excitement.

Scott & William got there pretty early the afternoon of the 11th, but Colin, Daniel, and I didn't arrive until 8:30. Then, we had to get back to the hotel with two cranky kiddos, and Daniel was still fighting off an awful cold. Needless to say, no one went to bed too easily that first night, which wrecked our plan of getting all the way out to the Animal Kingdom the first morning, since the kids slept in. My mom's and my absolute favorite park is, what else?, the Magic Kingdom, so we went with our back-up plan & hit that the first day. Since we were coming from the cold into the (very) hot, we had the A/C cranked down in the hotel room. Walking out into the humid Florida air from the very cold A/C isn't the best thing for a camera lens, so our first picture on our way to the Magic Kingdom is a bit foggy. Nevertheless, it's our FIRST picture, so it makes it:

From Disney 2009

We hopped on the monorail & were at the Magic Kingdom in 5 minutes flat. As we went to hand the lady our tickets, we realized we hadn't ACTIVATED them. **Note to all of you military people who will be going later in the year---activate the tickets BEFORE you get to the park*** I did remember that from the last time Disney ran their military special, but not until AFTER we tried to get in with unactivated tickets. The result from that oops is that we had to wait in the hot sun with 2 very excited kids while Daddy went to activate all of the tickets. NOT FUN! Here are a few snaps of William & Daniel running around the ledge while we waited. Of course, William promptly fell off & skinned his elbow. It swelled up immediately, prompting me to start praying it wasn't broken, but he could move it, so we headed to the first aid station once we were in the park for a band-aid, and considered him patched up!

I thought for sure my kids would head to Dumbo first, but Cinderella's Golden Carousel caught William's eye first, so that's where we started:

Dumbo came next, and let me tell you, the difference in the wait from before the carousel until after was amazing. If you're heading to Disney, check out this book & consider using, at least partially, their touring plans. They really help with waits, especially during the really busy seasons!

After Dumbo, William wanted to ride Thunder Mountain Railroad, so we headed over to Frontierland to do that one as well as Splash Mountain. Daniel & William both rode Thunder Mountain, but Daniel wasn't too interested in Splash Mountain, so he got to play in this neat little play area while we rode with William. It's great for anyone with smaller children who are doing the "child swap" for either of those two rides. Of course, William had to play, too, once we were done with Splash Mountain. He decreed Splash Mountain his very favorite ride, at least for that day. He called it "Danger, danger, Splashy Mountain" because of the "danger" signs just before the big drop where you get "splashied"!

And, here is what Colin did while Daniel played & we rode:

After lunch, we headed back to the hotel for naps--boy, did we need them!!--and then to the Crystal Palace for dinner with Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and Eeyore. We forgot the camera, so had to buy a disposable (wouldn't recommend THAT to anyone!). I haven't had time to get those pictures scanned in yet, so more to follow!
